Dear Editor,
The two No-Confidence Motions filed against two Ministers of Government respectively by the Opposition Leader and recent threats of a No-Confidence Motion against Leader of the Opposition Joseph Harmon by the governing PPP/C Government, which has a slim majority in Guyana’s highest decision-making body in the land, is cause for grave concern and deeply worrying.
As President of the National Mine Workers Union of Guyana, I am profoundly worried over the developing situation and the lukewarm relationship between the Government and the office of the Opposition.
I wish to urge “baby steps” to be taken by both sides and allow people and country to be placed above personal and political interest.
As President of the National Mine Workers Union of Guyana, I stand ready and willing to meditate between Government and Opposition and urge political maturity to prevail among our political leaders in Guyana.
Give political maturity a fighting chance.
