Cause of death of prisoner inconclusive

The post-mortem conducted by Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh on the body of 47-year-old Stonie Henry, a prisoner who succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) after being rushed there with suspected poisoning, has been unable to determine the cause of his death. As such, Dr Singh has ordered that several of Henry’s organs be sent for toxicology analysis. The welder, of Lot 539 Mocha Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, died at the GPHC after ranks of the East La Penitence Police Station had observed him vomiting and rushed him there. He had been a Police detainee who was expected to be charged later on the day of his demise (Tuesday) for the rape of a 16-year-old girl. At about 06:15h on that fateful Tuesday, while conducting inspection, ranks had seen Henry doubled over and had observed him to be vomiting. When questioned, Henry had complained of feeling unwell, and as such was rushed to the GPHC, where he was immediately treated. However, at about 08:00h he succumbed. He is suspected to have ingested carbon tablets.
