Central American & Caribbean Championships 2022: Confident of current package, Rosanna Fung aiming for gold
By Timothy Jaikarran
The utterly sensational Rosanna Fung will be taking to the stage at the Central American and Caribbean Championships (CAC) 2022 in Barbados, and she aims to bag gold in the Miss Bikini Category, which would allow her to earn her pro rank card.
The statuesque Fung is already confident that her current package would earn her a position on stage.
The competition, which has already commenced, will conclude on August 1, 2022, and Fung is expected to take to the stage on Friday, July 29, for the pre-judging. However, depending on the number of athletes competing in the category, she could go straight through to the final on Saturday.
In an interview with this publication, Fung was asked about her prospects of winning gold, and she said, “Winning this show would mean the absolute world to me, as it would mean winning my pro card, which is my ticket to competing as a pro in my category and for my country, and that is the ultimate honour for me.”
The talented Fung has said that in terms of her preparation for the competition, it is going great. She explained that coming off of her last show in Florida last month, in which she copped silver, she is confident that when she hits the stage, she would be leaner than she has ever been for the CAC.
As it pertains to her confidence level, she relayed that her mindset is always positive heading into every show. That being said, Fung is optimistic that this time she would place well in the competition.
Asked what continues to motivate her, she said, “Knowing that I can inspire others out there to step out of their comfort zones and step into the best versions of themselves keeps me driven and going; cause if I can do it, why can’t you? As it relates to those who would want to compete in the future, I would encourage any up-and-coming athlete in the sport to try. You will never know what you like and what works for you until you try. Try, and fail if you must, but don’t give up on anything that lights that little fire inside of you.”
Fung has also expressed much gratitude to her sponsors: BM Soat, Giftland, Trans Pacific Auto, Prem’s Electrical, Sassy Styles, Fitness Express, Bad Monkey, Raj jewelry, Space Gym, and The Breakers Palm Beach.
The other athletes who would be representing Guyana at the CAC are: Emmerson Campbell, Darious Ramsammy, Roger Callender, Nicholas Albert, Rawle Greene, Julio Sinclair, Colin Chesney, Jonathan Jeffrey, Christina King, Asanti Conway and Angelica Ramos.
Among the accolades Fung has won in the Miss Bikini Category are: The Miss Bikini Novice 2019 Championship, the Seniors 2019 Championship, placing 2nd at the Stage of Champions 2019 event, the 2020 edition of the Resilience Bodybuilding Championship. She also copped bronze in the CAC Championship in 2021 in El Salvador, among other things.
