In a masterful display of composure and experience, Jason Mohamed guided Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to a thrilling four-wicket triumph over the West Indies Academy in the CG United Regional Super50, securing his 22nd List A half-century in the process.
After scoring an unbeaten 70 runs, Mohamed shared his insights on the challenging encounter.
Reflecting on the conditions, Mohamed acknowledged the difficulties posed by the slow wicket and the softer ball in the second innings. “It was a bit tricky; I think the wicket was a bit slow in the second innings with the ball getting softer, and it was difficult to score. But I was happy to be there to the end,” expressed Mohamed. His unbeaten innings proved to be the anchor that steered Red Force to victory.

Having had numerous starts in the tournament without converting them into substantial scores, Mohamed expressed his satisfaction at finally reaching the milestone. “I had a lot of starts in the tournament, and I’m just happy to be able to carry on and get a 50 and take the team over the line,” he stated, highlighting the importance of contributing when it mattered the most.
The match saw West Indies Academy post a challenging total of 263 for eight at the halfway mark, prompting questions about the team’s confidence in the chase. Mohamed, however, exuded confidence, stating, “We knew it would have been a bit difficult just judging from the wicket and how soft the ball gets. I thought they got about 30-40 too much, but we’ve batted well as a team, and we were very confident. I think we batted well again today and got over the line.”
With a career spanning 16 years and 124 List A matches under his belt, Mohamed emphasised the value of experience in handling pressure situations.
“I’ve been around for a while now, so I just try and gather my thoughts, and with my experience playing at this level for a long time, I was able to cope with everything, which was important,” he shared.
Commending the West Indies Academy, Mohamed praised the young talents, recognising the significance of their participation in the tournament.
“I think they are a good bunch of guys. I’m happy they are part of this tournament, and we see these guys would have missed out for their country team. It is nice to have them in this tournament, and it shows that they are not just a walkover team; they play some good cricket, and hopefully, they get some good exposure in this tournament,” Mohamed remarked, highlighting the positive impact of such competitions in nurturing emerging talents.
