“Preparation was good,” he said, as he detailed the team’s journey leading up to the tournament. “It began with the Inter-County tournament, which was followed by a week of rigorous fitness testing and two days of focused practice. The combination of match practice and fitness assessment has helped the players manage their workload effectively, considering the Super50 tournament’s multi-week duration,” the head coach noted.
One significant change in the team is the appointment of Veerasammy Permaul as captain. Permaul, a stalwart of Guyana cricket, brings a wealth of experience to the role, with over 600 first class wickets and 136 List A wickets.
Hercules emphasized the importance of Permaul’s influence, describing him as a “very quiet guy who can get the job done.” He also highlighted Permaul’s potential to guide and mentor the younger players in the team, a crucial aspect of his new leadership role.
