CG United Regional Super50 tournament 2023: Rain forces no result in CCC-Red Force match
– after Bravo’s 81 not out
Rain had the final say in a promising encounter between Trinidad and Tobago Red Force and Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC), and the Regional Super50 opener ended in a no-result yesterday.
This match was played at Queen’s Park Oval, where the CCC won the toss and inserted Red Force to bat. The Red Force’s turbulent innings eventually came to a close after 44 overs with the hosts on 246 for four.
CCC showed fight before rain interrupted the match for the final time, reaching 53 without loss in 6.4 overs.
Darren Bravo rolled back the years with a tenacious 81 not-out from 84 balls. His innings featured eight fours and two sixes, one of which was dispatched over the wicket on a front foot drive off of Kadeem Alleyne.
Support came from Da Silva, who scored 48 runs from 50 balls, in which he struck nine boundaries before being caught at midwicket by pulling a length ball on the back foot off of Romario Greaves.
Jason Mohamed also got among the runs with 43 from 61 balls. His innings was laced with four fours and one six before he was caught at deep square leg off of Abhijai Mansingh.
Yannic Cariah joined Bravo at the crease on the first interruption by rain, with Red Force on 226 for four. Bravo was on 77 and Cariah was on 20, but in the next two overs before the innings closed, Cariah added 11 to end on 31 not out.
CCC then showed grit in their innings, with their openers digging deep and fending off the international bowlers Akeal Hosein, Jayden Seales and Shannon Gabriel.
Alleyne ended on 27 not out from 17 balls, in which he struck four fours and a six, while Johann Jeremiah made 25 not out from 23 balls, having struck four boundaries.
