All-round contributions from Yannic Cariah and Sunil Narine ensured Trinidad and Tobago Red Force record a three-wicket win over the Leeward Islands Hurricanes yesterday in the CG United Regional Super50 tournament.
Asked to bat, Hurricanes were contained to 198 all out in 37.2 overs, while the Red Force recorded 199 for seven in 45.4 overs.
Hurricanes were blown away by Cariah, who bagged his second five-wicket haul of the tournament when he picked up 5-48 with his leg spin. Veteran off-spinner Sunil Narine was among the wickets with 3-30, while Terrance Hinds bagged 2-24.
Amidst a sorry looking scorecard, Hurricanes openers had put together an impressive foundation with a partnership of 110, before losing their last five wickets for 19 runs.
Kieran Powell chalked up his 20th List A half-century and second of the competition by scoring 75 from 48 balls. His innings, featuring six sixes and five fours, was brought to an end by Cariah.

Cariah also removed Powell’s opening partner Justin Greaves, who stroked four boundaries in his 71-ball 58. Jahmar Hamilton made 18, and Hayden Walsh chipped in with 15, but no other batsman reached double figures.
Cariah returned to pilot the chase with an unbeaten 45 from 102 balls. His innings of sheer grafting featured one six and one four. He shared an unfinished partnership worth 43 with Narine, who looked to end things quickly by smashing four sixes and one four during his 33 not out from just 16 balls.
Jason Mohamed also made a valuable contribution of 41 from 49 balls, highlighted by five boundaries before he was bowled by Walsh.
Hinds complimented with 21 from 17 before he, too, was dismissed by Walsh, who ended with figures of 3-32.
Hurricanes were sloppy in their bowling, despite the low score, gifting Red Force 20 extras.
