Champions Blueberry Hill turn back Half Mile/One Mile 3-0

Defending champions, Blueberry Hill opened their defence with a 3-0 whipping of One Mile while Clarence Huggins netted twice as his side, Wisroc/Block 22 rolled over Central Mackenzie when the Stag Bowl Inter ward football championship began on Saturday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.

Playing in the opening game of the night, Wisroc/Block 22 were off to a good start when Clarence ‘Shark’ Huggins began his scoring as early as the 11th minute when he connected a across from the right and rose to head home his first goal .
However, Central Mackenzie were able to equalize through Malique Atkins in the 16th minute from a nice play on top of the 18 yard box. His shot rebounded after crashing to the right upright to score, but that was short lived as one minute after Huggins found teammate Orande Wills and that one-two combination ensured that the Wisroc /Block 22 would regain the advantage as Wills scored for a 2-1 lead.
Soon after in the 20th minute, Huggins would latch on to a pass moving inside and was able to net his second goal for a 3-1 eventual win.
The fourth goal for the winners then came in the 32nd minute where Omar Jones was there to set up a goal which was delivered by Joel Isaacs in the 32nd minute.
The second game saw the reigning champions Blueberry Hill moved on to the second stage with an emphatic win over their opponents Half Mile One Mile.
Shane Luckie was the first to score for his team when in the 6th minute he slotted home the lead for Blueberry Hill and they would increase that after the break through Sheldon Holder in the 50th minute. The Blueberry Hill side then got their third and final goal in the 67th minute of play through Tinaskie Whitehead and now move to the next round.
Two more games are billed for the same venue, the MSC ground on Thursday.
The tournament organised by CBR Hotspots which is headed by Rickland Hutson and overseas as based former national player who is back home for this annual football tournament.
