Charlestown dominate ABSAA-KFDA round of play

The Alex Bunbury Sports and Academics Academy (ABSAA) and the Kingston Football Development Academy (KFDA), formerly the Kingston Grass Roots Soccer Academy, continued their Easter Indoor Boys and Girls Community Football Festival at the National Gymnasium with eight matches highlighting the play on Thursday evening.
Continuing in the under-16 league, the first matchup of the night saw Tucville Ballers battling Eastville to a 1-1 ending of the match. In spite of goals coming from Kevin Mullin and Antwone Vasconcellos respectively, neither team could break the other’s defenses.
Match number two then saw Charlestown ‘A’ defeating Mahaica 1-0 after William McKenzie had managed to break through the Mahaica defenses.
The third game featured Buxton Stars battling to a 2-2 ending against Kingston. Scoring goals for Buxton were Daquasi Waddle and Rickford Emmanuel, while Vishal Sookhoo and Jonathan McKenzie scored for Kingston.
Charlestown ‘B’ overcame Tucville Go Getters in a thriller, with the match ending 3-2. Scoring goals for Charlestown ‘B’ were Shamar Welch and Tariq Pryce, while Tucville saw Jamal and Osafo Hinds taking the score to 2-2.
Pryce, however, returned in the end to wrap things up with another goal to help his side advance.
In the other fixtures, Kingston defeated Tucville 1-0, while Buxton Stars crushed Charlestown ‘B’ 3-1.
The night’s action culminated was Charlestown ‘A’ flexing their muscles to crush Eastville 3-0, while Tucville Ballers and Mahaica ended in a stalemate at the end of play.
The competition caters for boys and girls in the under-6, U-9, U-12 and U-15 categories. Some of the teams being featured in the competition are: Kingston, Tiger Bay ‘A’ & ‘B’, Lodge ‘A’ & ‘B’, Tucville, Mocha, West, Plaisance, East, and Grove.
