Chase leads Police to gun in apartment

A Police chase on Sunday in the vicinity of D’Urban and Cross Streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown has led to the discovery of a pistol with several matching rounds of ammunition in an apartment.
Based on information received, Police went into the community during which they observed a man running away.
As such, a chase ensued and the individual was eventually apprehended in an apartment. Police conducted a search of his person, but nothing was found.
However, when the ranks searched the apartment, a .32 Taurus millennium pistol and four live rounds of matching ammunition were discovered. The serial number on the weapon was reportedly filed off.
The suspect was arrested and placed in custody pending charges.
Just a few days ago, ranks were on patrol at Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown when they heard an explosion suspected to be a gunshot and went to investigate. As they made their way into Penny Lane, they observed a silver-grey Fielder Wagon motor car that two men were exiting. One of them was reportedly armed with a black hand gun.
Upon seeing the ranks, the driver of the vehicle hurriedly drove off while the two men ran into a nearby yard. As such, the Police ranks gave chase, but the two men jumped a concrete fence and made good their escape.
As they scaled the fence, the aforementioned gun and ammunition were disposed of. These were retrieved by the ranks and subsequently lodged at the Police Station. No arrests were made.
