Chase’s trounce St. Rose’s as YBG championships continue

The Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) Regionals round robin Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 competitions continued on Saturday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with Chase’s Academy handing St. Rose’s High a crushing defeat.
The rebound-dominated encounter saw Chase’s gaining a small lead by half time, and then working to maintain that lead by time the final buzzer went off. Orwin Kuley of Chase’s Academy took command of his team’s scoring by shooting a number of impressive 3-pointers. The youngster ended the night with 24 points, which led his team to a 34-23 victory.
On the other side, Chris Perez of St. Rose’s registered the highest score for his team, 10 points.
The basketball action will continue on Friday, May 18, with the Tutorial High Girls coming up against School of the Nation’s, after which last year’s runners-up, President’s College Girls, will face off against St. Rose’s High. Under 19 action for that day will see School of the Nations and Plaisance Secondary going head to head, followed by the superb GTI team coming up against the experienced St. Rose’s High.
