Chattergoon leads Albion to back-to-back wins

Former West Indies opener, Sewnarine Chattergoon has made an immediate impact upon his return to competitive cricket with back to back half centuries to steer Albion Cricket Club to consecutive victories in the Tenelec Incorporated 50 overs first division cricket tournament.

On Saturday, the left-handed Chattergoon blasted 62 to ensure Albion CC put up a commendable 191/9 from their allotment of 44 overs against Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets at the Rose Hall ground.
Albion, who were sent in after early morning rain forced a late start and a reduction in the overs also got useful knocks from Sharaz Ramcharran and Devendra Bishoo with 45 and 27 respectively. Clinton Pestano was the best bowler for the home team with 2/30.
In reply, Pestano top scored with 45 while Royston Crandon got 20 and Assad Fudadin 9 as Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets were bowled out for 114 in 27 overs to fall short by 77 runs.
Balchan Baldeo snared 5/25 from his allotment of seven overs and was given admirable support from Sharaz Ramcharran with 2/21 from five overs and West Indies leg spinner with figures of 7-4-7-2. The very next day, Albion hosted Port Mourant and gave the visitors a sound trashing by 58 runs. Albion won the toss and managed to put 208 on the board before being bowled out off the last ball of the 50th over. Chattergoon top scored once again with 65 while David Latchaya made 35 and Veerapen Permaul 32. Bowling for Port Mourant; Chandrapaul Hemraj picked up 2/15 (10 overs), Demitri Cameron 2/21 (6 overs) and Kellon Carmichael 2/48 (10 overs). The visitors never really threatened in the run chase and were eventually bowled out off the last ball for 144 with Samuel Krishnasammy compiling an even half century. Balchan Baldeo good run with the ball continued as he picked up 2/19 from 10 overs and was supported by David Latchaya with 2/34 from 10 overs and Bishoo with 1/21 also from his quota of 10 overs. Albion will now meet Upper Corentyne in their round three fixture when the tournament continues this weekend.
