Chihuahua costs owner $30,000 bail

A woman who allegedly left her Chihuahua unattended was charged after the dog attacked and bit a child.
Alvaveen Alberts denied that on November 16, 2017 at Wortmanville, Georgetown, she failed to restrain her Chihuahua, which attacked the child.
However, in her defence, Alberts told Magistrate Leron Daly, before whom she appeared that the boy was in the habit of teasing the dog which caused it to bite him.
Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh told Magistrate Daly that the excuse given by the defendant was not valid.
He asked that bail in a substantial sum be imposed in order for Alberts to take better care in the future.
Bail was granted in the sum of $30,000. The defendant is expected to return to court today.
