Police have immediately launched an investigation after a firearm was found by a child on Wednesday at Reliance Settlement, East Canje, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).

Reports are at approximately 16:00h the .38 Taurus revolver was found after a 39-year-old male of the said community called the Reliance Police Station and reported that his 13-year-old son discovered the firearm under a tree while playing in their backyard.
Police ranks subsequently visited the man’s residence and the revolver was retrieved and taken to the Reliance Police Station, where it was examined and no serial number was seen on the weapon.
The weapon was lodged as further inquiries are being made. (G9)
