Child rapist gets 21-year prison sentence

A man said to be in his 50s will spend the next several years in jail after admitting to raping a 12-year-old nearly three years ago at an East Coast Demerara (ECD) village.
Richard Archer pled guilty to the offence upon his appearance before Justice Jo Ann Barlow at the Sexual Offences Court on Monday. The incident occurred on April 10, 2016.
The judge sentenced him to 21 years’ imprisonment following his early plea. He was represented by Attorney Maxwell McKay while State Counsels Lisa Cave, Sarah Martin and Seeta Bishundial appeared for the prosecution.
