Two children were on Tuesday evening medevacked from the New Amsterdam Hospital to the Georgetown Public Hospital amid protests which have blocked off roads from the county of East Berbice to the capital city in Georgetown, Demerara.
The Regional Democratic Council of Region Six (East Berbice Corentyne), in a Facebook Post, explained that the medical evacuation occurred at around 19:00h. According to the RDC, this is the first time that the airstrip located aback the Rose Hall Estate has been used by the army, and the second time it has been used during the night. The runway had to be lit with vehicle lights during the evacuation.
The condition of the patients is unclear.
