Chinkoo’s heroics propel MMZ to big win against NY Kings
Former Guyana youth player Looknauth Chinkoo blasted a blistering 96 to lead Team Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) to a 97-run win against the New York Kings.
MMZ, who won the toss and opted to bat first, scored 216 all out in 29.3 overs. Chinkoo’s 96 runs from 65 balls was decorated with seven fours and seven sixes.
He was supported by Andy Mohammed, who made a 41-ball 51 that included eight fours. Kelvin Shewprasad supported with 21. Anmoipreet Singh bagged 3-34, while Sanjeev Rahull Kumar, Ravi Bainsa and Hamid Nawaz each picked up two wickets.
In response, the Kings were bowled out for 119 in 24.2 overs. Chinkoo, returning with the ball, picked up 4-22 in five overs, while Shewprasad and Matthew Lutchena each took two wickets. Kumar, who top-scored for the Kings with 24, could only watch his team being demolished by the penetrative bowling of Team MMZ.
MMZ continues to enjoy success in New York. Earlier that weekend, former national cricketer Gajanand Singh also struck an unbeaten half-century to lead MMZ to an eight-wicket win against Everest/ACS in the Caribbean Fest 40-Over tournament.
