Residents in Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), have benefitted from street lights.
Last week, during the “Dream Realised” housing drive in the region, 30 street lights were donated to the community by the Central Housing & Planning Authority (CH&PA).
Housing and Water Ministers Collin Croal and Susan Rodrigues along with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CH&PA Sherwyn Greaves, Regional Chairperson Vilma De Silva, and a member of the Lima Sands CDC, were in attendance of the handing over.
Speaking to residents at the “Dream Realised” housing drive, Croal said “earlier this year a request was made by the community for the street lamps, road rehabilitation works, and transportation. Through an inter-Ministry intervention, these promises will be fulfilled by the Ministry of Public Works as they have undertaken to carry out the road rehabilitation works.”
He further stated that he was pleased that the CH&PA was able to deliver on this promise in such a short space of time, adding that this is a clear indication of the Ministry’s commitment to build wholesome communities with all the necessary amenities.
Gratitude for the donation was expressed by members of the community development group as the lights will benefit some 1200 residents.
