Cabinet has approved a new Board of Directors for the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA), which will be headed by new Chairperson Emanuel Cummings.
Other appointed members include Chandrowtie Sarran, Michael Hutson, Cosmos De Santos, Azeena Baksh, Yonnic David, and a representative from the City and Town Councils.
Under the purview of the Housing and Water Minister, the new board will serve for a period of one year, from September 10, 2020 to September 9, 2021.
In early September, Housing and Water Minister Collin Croal revoked the appointment of the entire Board of the Authority, including then Chairman Apostle Elsworth Williams.
The revocation of the appointments, dated August 29, was published in the Official Gazette. The document highlighted that the revocations were done pursuant to the powers vested in the Minister of Housing in accordance with Section 4 (2) of Cap 36:20 and Sections 4 (5) of Cap 36:20 of the Housing Act.
Others on the board whose services were revoked included Imran Amin, Thandai McAllister, Khemlall Alvin, Elton Patram, Waneka Arrindell, Akeem Peter, Kenneth Jordan, Cleveland December, Glenyss James, Herman Persaud, Winifred Heywood, Chattergoon Ramnauth, Kenneth Willimas, Dale Browne, Juan Hunter and John Macedo.
The Housing and Water Ministry had later announced the appointment of Sherwyn Greaves as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA). He replaced Lelon Saul, who is currently on leave until his contract expires.
The Ministry had said that Greaves brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the areas of effective leadership and communication, as he holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the Australia Institute of Business, a diploma in banking from the Associate Institute of Canadian Bankers, and a certificate in People and Team Management from the Canadian Securities Institute.
With a career in banking spanning over 27 years, Greaves held key managerial positions throughout the country. He is also trained in the areas of Change Management, Security and Fraud Awareness, High-Performance Management, and Business Continuity Planning, among other areas.
