CH&PA outreach: Region 2 residents receive on-the-spot house lots

Residents of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) received on the spot house lots during a recent outreach by the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA).
Some 40 residents of Charity, Anna Regina and Suddie, were beneficiaries of this gesture.

The outreach exercises, which were held at Charity, Neighbourhood Democratic Council Tarmac; Anna Regina State House Boardroom and Suddie Learning and Resource Centre saw hundreds of residents taking full advantage of the opportunity to have their pending housing matters addressed and resolved during a one-on-one meeting with the Head of CH&PA, Sherwyn Greaves.
Speaking to the residents at Charity, Greaves said that the Housing and Water Ministry, through the CH&PA is committed to resolving age-old issues on the coast and bringing an end to a number of boundary issues.
He added that the importance of having ownership documents and ending boundary issues is of great importance to the Ministry.
“We have a commitment to this region while we resolve these issues, we are working simultaneously to match infrastructure development with the allocation we have done in the region,” Greaves said.

Additionally, elaborating on the future plans for the region, Greaves stated that the Ministry has a huge plan for infrastructure work along the Essequibo Coast.
He noted that a contract to the tune of $100 million for infrastructure works in Onderneeming and Charity communities have already been signed.
“These works will include the clearing of land, bridges, and access roads. However, for 2022 the Ministry has another $1 billion for other infrastructure works in the region, that will include the installation of street lights, road works, and the acquisition of lands,” Greaves added. (G14)
