Milo Schools Football Tournament 2018
Top Linden unit Christian-burg Secondary School and Morgan’s Learning Centre were at the helm of the dominance on Sunday when the sixth annual Milo Schools Football Tournament continued at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
The Linden side obliterated Vergenogen Secondary 11-0 with Andre Myers leading the route with a helmet-tick of gaols. Myers made his marks in the 16th, 27th, 30th & 50th while Mickel Adams (3rd and 10th) and Brentsley Allicock (9th and 42th) scored doubles. Randy Pickening (21st), Akeem Caesar (43th) and Hirani Gilkes (73th) also supported.
2017 runners-up Morgan’s went two further winning 13-0 against School of Nations. The main playmaker there was Koby Durant with a hat-trick via goals in the 10th , 26th and 36th while a brace each went for Dorwin George (3rd &46th) and Nixon Robertson (55th and 64th). Wellington DoSantos (12th), Adrian Adelph (13th), Randy Roberts (18th), Rueben Miller (65th), Ryan Dowding (42th) and own goal in the 61st added to the woes of the private school.
The most calm match of the day came with Annandale Secondary defeating Friendship Secondary 4-1. Troni Semple with a double via goals in the 27th and 41st and goals from Trevor Fiffee (19th) and Omar Glasgow (33rd) gave the East Coast of Demerara unit the comfortable win. Marlon Hyman in the 3rd scored for the losing side.
Action continues this weekend and teams will be hoping to secure the first place prize of $500,000 which goes towards a school project. Second to fourth, will receive $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively which also go towards school projects.
