Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donates $20M in medical supplies to CDC
A donation of personal protective equipment (PPE) worth $20 million was on Thursday donated to the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the National Gymnasium.

Deputy Director General of the CDC, Major Loring Benons disclosed that the donation of medical supplies stemmed from an earlier commitment made by the Church, the Department of Public Information reported.
Noting the increased testing for COVID-19 across the country, he described the contribution as timely.
“These PPEs will continue to go to the Ministry and our law enforcement officers for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” he is quoted by the DPI as saying.
Director of the National Communications Council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Latchman Bharrat said it was an honour to be able to assist.
“I feel pleased that the CDC has given us the opportunity to serve, we welcome that, and throughout the length and breadth of the country, we have been doing just that. On behalf of the Church, I extend my gratitude to all who gave us the opportunity to serve.”
Just recently, the Church also made a $20 million donation of food items to the CDC’s relief outreach.
Several Non-Governmental Organisations and agencies have made meaningful donations to the CDC, to assist households on the coast and hinterland that are adversely affected by the pandemic.
