“Chutney meets Soca” for Helena Ground this Saturday

Chutney and Soca lovers on the East Coast of Demerara, particularly in Mahaica and its environs, are in for a treat on Saturday evening as XTRA Beer and Energy Drink host “Chutney meets Soca” at the Helena Number One Ground.

This is the first time an event of this nature is being held at the venue, and it is expected to be explosive. The event will feature the 2017 International Chutney Monarch Omardath Maraj, who will definitely perform “Ramsingh Sharma”, his winning entry at the recently-concluded chutney competition.
The song has been playing on all the local airwaves and is probably known by all in Guyana. Maraj has several other hits that he will also perform. Of late, he has been performing a few of the legendary Bob Marley tunes at his concerts, which were well received by the patrons.

He will be joined by Guyana’s provocative singer, Shelly Garraway, who is commonly known as Shelly G. This Soca singer will undoubtedly add some flair to the show and create the buzz that is expected.
Admission to the event cost $1000, and tickets will be available at the venue. Gates to the venue open at 18:00h and the show gets underway at 20:00h.
