CICC topple Windsor Forest A in 8th round clash

Action in the West Demerara Cricket Association’s Beacon Café 50-Over Cricket Competition continued over the weekend with the Cornelia Ida Cricket Club battling the Windsor Forest A Team at the Meten-Meer-Zorg Cricket Ground.

Muhamad Wazidali and Harrinarine Bissondyal were the top performers for CICC

This was part of play in the 8th round of the tournament, and it turned out to be a one-sided affair, as the CICC were able to defeat their opponents by 91 runs.
The match commenced with the CICC squad laying the platform to defeat their much weaker opponents. They made good use of the powerplay overs, and set themselves up to register a big total, but the loss of a few quick wickets managed to throw them off course.
The Windsor Forest bowling pair of Kishaun Tracy and Maniram Ragnauth troubled the CICC batsmen with their lengths, which were virtually impossible to read. But assistance came in the form of Harrinarine Bissondyal, Muhamad Wazidali, Arshad Azim and Vaickesh Dhaniram, who were able to dig their team out of trouble.
Bissondyal led from the front with 66; while Wazidali supported with 55, Arshad Azim contributed 33, and Vaickesh Daniram chipped in with a quickfire 31 runs, to take their total to 244 all out in 48.1 overs.
The Windsor Forest bowlers Kishaun Tracy and Maniram Ragnauth bagged 4-32 and 3-23 respectively.
Although they needed only 245 runs for victory, Windsor Forest ‘A Team’ struggled from the get-go, failing to sustain any partnership that would give their squad a crucial boost.
Deoram Chanderbir with 45 and Abdullah Wazidali with 30 were the only players to make a meaningful contribution. The other players succumbed to scoreboard pressure and ‘choked’ in the most important part of the game.
In the end they were bowled out for 153, scored in 28.5 overs.
Bowling for CICC, Arshad Azim and Harrinarine Bissondyal each bagged 3 wickets.
