The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) has paid tribute to one of its recently departed members, Mohamed “Fuzzy” Sattaur who passed away on Saturday last.
“Brother Sattaur was a very active participant in many of the CIOG’s programmes,
and assisted in the development of projects that served to benefit many Muslims in our country. His service to the country in his political capacity did not diminish his commitment to his religion of Islam, and his burning desire to foster good relationships and serve his fellow brothers and sisters,” the CIOG stated in a message.
It noted that Sattaur will long be remembered for his many achievements in the field of communication. “His work in improving the radio and television network in Guyana will remain a hallmark of his achievement,” the CIOG stated.
The CIOG said it will certainly miss Sattaur, who served as the CIOG’s Treasurer for a while. “The President, Executives and the entire CIOG extend our sincere condolences to his wife Mala, his children and his entire family. It is our fervent prayer that Almighty Allah (SWT) grant the family of Brother Sattaur patience and perseverance at this time of loss, and that He grant peace to our brother and Jannatul Firdous on the day of Youmul Kayama,” the statement added.
Sattaur was the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Communications Network (NCN). Among those at his funeral on Sunday were former Presidents of Guyana, Bharrat Jagdeo and Donald Ramotar.
