The Guyana Pandits’ Council in partnership with the Radha Krishna Mandir held its annual blood drive at its Camp and Quamina Streets Headquarters on Saturday.
The event saw scores of persons who participated in donating blood for a worthy cause.
Some fifty-five units of blood were donated to the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), which has regularly faced challenges in getting enough blood to meet the national demands.
Persons desirous of donating blood independently can visit the Blood Bank during opening hours from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00h and 18:30h.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) had issued a call for an increase in regular blood donations from voluntary, unpaid donors, in order to save millions of lives globally each year.
