A 27-year-old employee of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) was killed on Tuesday after he reportedly slammed into a culvert along the East Bank of Demerara (EBD).
Dead is Nizamudeen Muhammed, also known as “Dwain”, of Lot 616 Section A, Block Y, Golden Grove, (EBD).
Reports are that about 00:10h, Muhammed was proceeding north along the western side of the road when his motor car, with registration number PRR 4768, collided with the metal rail of a culvert in the vicinity of Land of Canaan Public Road. This caused the vehicle to topple several times, before coming to a halt. Muhammed was thrown out of the vehicle as a result of the impact. He was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited persons and rushed to the Diamond hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
This newspaper was told that Muhammed was returning home from work when the accident occurred. Reports are that Muhammed was the only child of his parents who reside overseas.
His body was taken to the Lyken Funeral Parlour to await a post-mortem examination.
