‒ Caesar tipped to claim sprint double
Guyana’s sprinting sensation Compton Caesar has been tipped to take Gold in both the 100M and 200M races at the South American Youth Championships slated for June 3-4 at the Leonora Track and Field Facility.
Asked by Guyana Times Sport about Guyana’s chances of medalling at the Games, coach Julian Edmond expressed confidence in Guyana’s ability to replicate its recent success and even excel its performance at the recent CARIFTA Games.
“It is our (intention) to win as (many) gold medals as possible,” he declared.
He maintained that Guyana’s best hope is Compton Caesar — fastest Under-20 sprinter in the Caribbean.
“We’ve got Compton Caesar; he’s the fastest Under-20 sprinter in the Caribbean, and we expect him to be on the podium at this championship, winning gold,” the coach predicted.
