Cocaine found under vehicle at CJIA, 5 in custody

Agents of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) are currently grilling five suspects, including a shipper, after a quantity of cocaine was found under his vehicle at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

The suspected cocaine retrieved from under the shipper’s vehicle

shipper, Navindra Sarwan, on Monday sometime around 23:00h by CANU ranks.
At the time, the vehicle was parked inside the compound of the CJIA CAMEX Bond at Timehri, EBD.
It was reported that Sarwan was scheduled to ship ground provision and pumpkins on a cargo flight OJ 258 destined for Canada. After the suspected cocaine was found, Sarwan along with four other males were taken into custody pending investigations.
Meanwhile, the drugs were weighted and amounted to over seven kilograms. Investigations are continuing.
