Colts book semi-final spot

With their fifth straight win, defending champions Bounty Colts looked well on track and amped to retain the Road to Mecca National Club Championships currently being contested at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
On Sunday, Colts booked the first semi-final spot of the 2018 Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) event with a 99-45 thrashing of Canje Knights.
Kobras also defeated Pacesetters 82-79 to stay in contention for a playoff spot while Republic Bank Nets eased past Amelia’s Ward Jets 86-80 and Ravens battled Bulls down to the wire to emerge victorious 76-73.
Saturday evening saw Plaisance Guardians defeat Canje Knights 87-68, Colts record victory four with a – 87-63 triumph over Retrieve Raiders and Victory Valley Royals remain unbeaten after sinking Kobras 73-55.
Mecca V continues this Wednesday, April 18 before rolling into the weekend with the last set of preliminary games prior to the semi-final stage on April 22. Over $2 million in prize money is up for grabs with the grand cash prize of $600,000 to be claimed by the champions when the competition concludes on April 28. The runners-up will have to settle for $400,000, while the third-place finisher will receive $200,000. In addition, the MVP will pocket $200,000, while the player with the most points, most rebounds and the most improved player will each receive $100,000.
