Colts crowned GABA U23 Knockout Champions

The Colts Basketball Club stamped their authority on the local basketball scene on Sunday night as they powered their way to the GABA Under-23 Knockout Tournament 2025 title, defeating the Stabroek Eagles in emphatic fashion at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).

Sponsored by Wilson Plumbing Services and General Supplies and Onyx Engineering Inc., the tournament brought together some of the brightest young basketball talents in the country and delivered a night of exciting, competitive action.

The championship showdown lived up to expectations as the Colts, seeking back-to-back titles, delivered a commanding 106–55 victory over the Stabroek Eagles.The Colts wasted no time asserting dominance, racing to a 35–11 first-quarter lead and never looking back. Their offensive firepower and defensive pressure proved too much for the Eagles, who struggled to contain the relentless pace.

Carmelo Man-son Ming spearheaded the Colts’ attack with a game-high 26 points, while Shaquan Archer contributed 19. Kemol Grimmond and Jaden Simon each added 16 points, highlighting the Colts’ balanced scoring depth.

For the Eagles, captain Alafin Joseph fought hard with 19 points, supported by Omano Ganeshden, who finished with 11.

Earlier in the evening, the third-place playoff saw the Nets overcome the Pacesetters 92–77 in a fast-paced encounter. The Nets took early control of the game, leading 21–14 after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 47–28 by halftime.

Although the Pacesetters showed resilience with a strong 30-point third quarter, the Nets maintained their composure to close out the contest.

Chris Perez led the Nets with an impressive 24 points, while Peter Langenne added 18 in support. For the Pacesetters, Zawadie DeJonge finished with 16 points and Benkhaw King chipped in 14 in a valiant effort.

With the Colts securing back-to-back championships, the tournament closed on a high note, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter of GABA’s Under-23 competition.
