Colts, Ravens promise thrilling Mecca V finals

The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) will come alive this evening with explosive basketball action as the Bounty Colts and Dyna’s Ravens go head to head in a battle to crown the best basketball club in the nation. With both teams recording exceptional performances throughout this year’s Road to Mecca tournament, the final is expected to showcase the best of Guyana’s basketball talent.
At a pre-final press conference held at the Pegasus hotel, both teams expressed commitment to bringing their ‘A’ game to the highly anticipated final. Speaking on behalf of the Bounty Colts, Club President Michael Singh expressed confidence his team would be able to defeat the Ravens, even though the Ravens have been playing remarkably well this season.

“It will be an interesting final. We have legs, we have the IQ; they have the character, and they know how to win. I see them being very competitive for the finals,” Singh predicted.
Meanwhile, Darcel Harris of Dyna’s Ravens expressed confidence in his team’s game plan and ethics. “We know Colts is a team with a lot of up tempo, good quality basketball. So we intend to bring it hard to this final, stick to a solid game plan, and hope to come out victorious,” he said. The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation has planned an action packed evening of activities, with the third place match kicking off at 19:00hrs.
This match will feature the Kobras coming up against the Royals out of the mining town of Linden.
Guyanese artiste Timeka Marshall will also take the stage to deliver an exciting half-time performance. The match of the night will begin at 21:00hrs, with Ravens trying to prevent Colts from reaching a 3-peat.
The two teams are vying for trophies and a cash prize of $600,000, whilst second and third place will receive $400,000 and $300,000 respectively. Individual prizes include $200,000 being awarded to the most valuable player; $100,000 for the player recording the most rebounds; and $100,000 for the most improved player in the tournament.
