Commissioners T20 Cup: Region 2, 4C win big in March 20 games

The Commissioners Cup T20 tournament continued on Thursday, March 20th at the Polcie Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, where Region 2 faced off against a combined team from Regions 1, 7, 8, & 9.
A look at the T20 Cricket action on Thursday last
The latter won the toss and elected to bowl first. Region 2 got off to a shaky start, losing their opener Charleston Roberts in the first over for a duck. A superb innings from Damion Vantull, which consisted of 6 giant sixes and 5 fours, would see Region 2 reach an impressive total of 194. Vantull was well supported by Fazeer Khan, who ended the innings not out on 46 off 50 balls, and O. Sampson, who had a quickfire 33 off 13 balls (3 sixes and 2 fours).
In reply, former West Indies test batsman Leon Johnson had a good knock of 62 (2 sixes and 6 fours) and was supported by G. Williams, who made 26. Regions 1, 7, 8, & 9 would eventually get bowled out for a total of 158 in 16.4 overs. J. Dhanpaul had excellent figures of 5 wickets for 30 runs of his 4 overs. Vantull also contributed with figures of 3 for 13 in his 2.1 overs.

In the other match on the day, Regions 4C and Region 10 faced off. 4C won the toss and elected to bat first with K. Chand striking early for the region 10 team, dismissing N. Barker clean bowled for just 7 runs in the game’s 3rd over. Captain Kelvin Leitch would then walk to the crease and construct a 42-run innings consisting of 3 sixes and 5 fours. Roncy Caleb (33) and Delon Melville (30) would be the other main contributors in the innings, taking the total up to 184/9 in the 20 overs. Chand had very good bowling figures of 3 for 24 runs in his 4 overs.
In the chase, Region 10 struggled to put any significant partnerships together as they were limited to a 135/9 in their 20 overs. Top scorers were J. Tucker with 28 and Bevon Braithwaite contributed with 23. Jermaine Tyndall had good bowling figures of 3 for 27 runs off his 4 overs.
On Monday, March 24th, the competition is expected to resume, with Region 2 facing the Officers and TSC going up against Region 5.
