CONCACAF U17 QUALIFIERS: Junior Jags bounce back with 4-0 victory over the Bahamas

Guyana’s Under-17 football team the Junior Jags on Thursday bounced back from a crushing loss earlier this week to thump the Bahamas in the ongoing CONCACAF Under-17 Qualifiers.

National U17 Coach Vurlon Millis opted for a playing XI which read: Duquain Samuels (Goalkeeper), Shakem Welcome (Captain), Swade Edwards, Gerry Burnette, Krishtian Louis, Seon Cato, Kvist Paul, Noah Kissoon, Matrim Martin, Bryan Wharton and Christopher Whitter.
Competing at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, the Junior Jaguars had an impressive first half, in which they registered their complement of four goals, but went quiet in the second segment. However, the Jags’ defence did enough to keep their opponent at bay, unlike their performance on Tuesday.
Guyana had their account opened for them with a Bahamas own goal in the 4th minute. Capitalising on the newfound momentum, Bryan Wharton found the back of the net in the 9th for Guyana. A little later, it was Christopher Whitter who was celebrating an on-point strike in the 18th.
Wharton returned to complete his brace in the 30th, to push Guyana to a 4-0 score.
The Junior Jaguars’ next outing in Group A of the competition will come on Saturday, September 3, against Sint Maarten at the same venue from 9:10am local time.
