Presently, the construction is at the foundation stage, with work moving apace. Upon completion, residents of Linden and other areas in Region 10 are expected to enjoy the comfort of having a passport office which would cater for new applications within their community, easing the burden of their having to travel to Georgetown to access the service.
Citizenship Minister Winston Felix travelled to the community last December for a sod-turning exercise at the site for the construction of the new passport office, which is situated in the vicinity of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) building at Mackenzie.
Construction of the building, which will measure 2000 square feet, is being executed by R. Bassoon and Sons Contracting Company to the tune of $30,604,472.
