Construction worker arraigned for murder of WBD teen
Twenty-three-year-old Keon Carr, a construction worker of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was on Monday remanded to prison for the murder of a 19-year-old man whom he stabbed to death with a pair of scissors.
The murder accused appeared before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court where he was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on July 14, he murdered Chris Gaichan Narine called “Boyo”, a construction worker of Recht-Door-Zee, WBD. He was remanded until August 4.
Police reported that Narine was attacked and stabbed to death by his colleague with a pair of scissors. The incident occurred at Independence Drive in the vicinity of Third Avenue, La Parfaite Harmonie, WBD.
The now deceased teenager and his uncle, 23-year-old Gansham Singh, were reportedly going home on a bicycle when Carr appeared from the opposite direction on an electrical bike.
Carr then attacked the teenager, whose uncle ran from the scene, leaving him in a scuffle with the accused. While running, the uncle reportedly saw Carr with an orange pair of scissors in his right hand.
The murder accused is alleged to have dealt the 19-year-old two stabs – one to the lower abdomen and another to the left shoulder – after which he made good his escape on the electric bike.
After the stabbing incident, Singh picked up his nephew in an attempt to take him to the nearest Police Station, but the injured man collapsed.
As a result, the matter was reported to the Police. Ranks arrived at the scene and immediately picked up the injured teen and rushed him to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH), where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.
Meanwhile, acting on information received, a party of Police ranks went to Westminster, WBD, where they arrested Carr.
