Home News Construction worker dies after being struck to head with wire
Forty-year-old Odel Richard, a construction worker of Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD), died after he was reportedly struck on his head by a wire which burst while working on Friday.
Police stated that Richard went to work at about 08:00h at H Nauth and Son construction site at Unity, and was seen by his cousin, who is also a construction worker there, pulling a wire when it burst and hit him to his head.
As a result, he fell to the ground and became unconscious.
He was taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital by his cousin and two other workers, where he was examined and admitted. He subsequently died a few hours later.
Richard’s death was given as blunt trauma to the head and high blood pressure. His body is at Jerrick’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem.
