Consultations begins on Good Hope/Supenaam Waterfront Improvement Project

Consultation on the Good Hope/Supenaam Waterfront Improvement Project was held on Wednesday last at the Good Hope Centre, Essequibo Coast, with representatives from the Public Infrastructure and Communities Ministries, as well as from the Region Two administration. Persons who participated in the consultation were drawn from the Essequibo Chamber of Commerce, the Speed Boat Association, Forestry Commission, vendors, the Good Hope Transform Committee, Councillors of Neighbourhood Democratic Councils, the Regional Democratic Council, as well as members of the public.
One of the many concerns raised was to cater for persons with disabilities and as such, assurance was given that such persons will be considered in the designing of the project.
The project consists of a new revetment on the waterfront, appropriate vehicle parking, improved drainage to the immediate area, new boat landing facilities, arrival and departure wharf, tourism booth, new vending facilities, garbage receptacle, recreational space, solar lighting systems and general enhancement of the area.
