Cop, 2 others seriously injured in 2-vehicle smash-up

Thirty-three-year-old Assistant Superintendent of Police, Colin Primus along with two others were seriously injured following an accident on the Johana Cecelia Public Road, Essequibo Coast, on Thursday.

Based on reports received, Primus, who was driving motor car PVV 9556, was about to make a turn when another car HB 9504, which was reportedly travelling at a fast rate of speed, crashed into him.

The hire car was driven by Tariq Baksh, whose wife was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
As a result of the impact, the occupants of both vehicles sustained bodily injuries.

Training College in Essequibo, suffered a fractured right foot and a laceration to his head and is said to be in a stable but serious condition at the Suddie Regional Hospital.

Meanwhile, Primus in a statement explained that on the day in question, he was in the process of making a turn and would have slowed down and flipped on his indicator but suddenly, the other car collided with the left front side of his vehicle.
Due to the impact, the vehicle that the Police Officer was driving began to spin on the roadway and ended up on the parapet while the other vehicle ended up on the opposite side of the road. The police are continuing their investigation into the two-vehicle smash-up.
