Nineteen-year-old Erwin Gentle, a Police Constable attached to the Supenaam Police Station, Essequibo, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was on Monday remanded to prison for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.
The constable was arrested on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) by a rank of the Division 4 B’s Gender-Based Violence Unit for Rape of a Child under the age of 16.
However, he appeared before Magistrate Tameika Clarke at the Friendship Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to the charge when it was read to him. He was remanded to prison and the case will continue on October 27.
