Cop charged for hitting wife with wood

…released on self-bail

A policeman, who hit his wife with a piece of wood, found himself before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged for assault and threatening language.
Enoch Jacobs called “Doggie” is accused of hitting and threatening his wife on February 23, 2019. The 29-year-old man, who resides at Middle Road, La Penitence, denied that on February 23, 2019, at Vlissingen Road, Kitty, Georgetown, he assaulted Amanda Jacobs. It was further alleged that on the same day at the same location he used obscene language and threatened his wife.
Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield did not object to bail. The court heard that on the day of the incident, the couple were attending the Mashramani Day parade along Vlissingen Road, Kitty, when they got into a heated argument. The policeman reportedly became aggravated and started to assault his wife. The woman then attempted to walk away but the cop allegedly became more annoyed and armed himself with a piece of wood and hurled it towards his wife, hitting her on her feet. The cop was released on self-bail. The case will continue on May 20, 2019.
