Cop fails breathalyser test after colliding with motorcyclist

A motorcyclist traversing the Ruimveldt Public Road, Georgetown was fortunate to escape with her life after she was on Sunday afternoon struck by the car driven by a uniformed Policeman who was reportedly “intoxicated”.

The accident occurred around 14:30h when motor car PSS 4403 was being driven by Constable Nigel Griffith.
Guyana Times understands that Griffith was proceeding north along the Ruimveldt Public Road, Georgetown while Simone was proceeding out of Alexander Village.
However, the Policeman reportedly failed to stop when he needed to and collided with the motorcyclist a short distance from the Ruimveldt Police Station.
Workers attached to the Guyana Fire Service responded to the scene and rushed the badly injured woman to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
She is said to have received serious head injuries from the impact which caused her to fall from her motorcycle.
This publication understands that the Police Constable, who was at the time driving his heavily-tinted vehicle, was administered a breathalyser test and found to be way over the legal limit.
As such, he is currently in custody, assisting with investigations. (Kizzy Coleman)
