Cop reverses Police vehicle into 61-year-old woman

A 61-year-old woman of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara narrowly escaped serious injury after being struck by a Police vehicle on the Mon Repos main access road at about 06:00h on Wednesday.
The incident involved a Police vehicle being driven by a detective constable from the Beterverwagting Police Station. Police report that ranks were departing a fire scene in Mon Repos when the driver reversed into Kamlawattie Singh.

Despite the frightening incident, which caused Singh to be pushed under the vehicle, she has sustained only minor injuries. Persons in the area raised an alarm as they saw the woman under the vehicle. Ranks exited the vehicle, took her out from under it, and transported her to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she received medical treatment before being discharged.
The detective constable who was driving the vehicle has received a notice of intended prosecution following the incident.

Guyana Times understands that the cops who were in the vehicle never reported this matter to their superiors. It was not until the CCTV footage of the accident was reported by the media that the top brass of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) became aware of the incident.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver, and it recorded .003% micrograms. (G9)
