Cops escape unhurt after arson attempt on Arakaka Police Outpost
An investigation is underway following an attempt to torch the Arakaka Police Outpost, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini), in the wee hours of Friday.
Based on reports received at about 02:30h on the day in question, the subordinate officer and other ranks were performing duties in the enquiries office when they heard a loud explosion and saw a huge flame at the front door of the building.
Without hesitation, they reportedly extinguished the blaze using water. However, upon inspection, the front door of the building was scorched and a partially burnt five-gallon bottle was found at the doorway.
After realising that someone attempted to burn the building, the team of police ranks combed the area but there were no signs of anyone in the area. The officials of the Guyana Fire Service were called in to assist in the investigations.
