A Corentyne fisherman who reported to the Police that he and a friend had an altercation during which he “broadsided” him, was on Monday remanded to prison for murder.
Henry Trim, 28, also called ‘Buddy’ of Number 60 Village, Corentyne, Berbice was not required to plea to the indictable charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Charlyn Artiga at the Whim Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on November 29, 2016, Trim murdered 25-year-old Ravi Kumar Sharma at Number 60 Village.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Phillip Sherriff told the court that the lifeless body of the Sharma was discovered lying in a pool of blood beneath his home at about 6:00h by his mother on the day in question.
The matter was transferred to the Number 51 Magistrate’s Court and the trial will continue on February 24, 2017.
Trim gave investigators a confession statement claiming that he and Sharma had a fight over a portable DVD player.
Trim also reportedly confided to investigators that he was in a relationship with the dead man’s 57-year-old mother.
