A Corentyne, Berbice, labourer and his accomplice, a taxi driver, who are accused of robbing a businessman of $270,000, were on Friday remanded to prison by Magistrate Charlyn Artiga.
Denroy Parks, called “Jaja”, of Cromarty Village, Corentyne, Berbice; and Neitein Dookhie, called “Angle”, 30, of Lot 24 A Phillip Farm, Corentyne Berbice, were not required to plead to the indictable offence when it was read to them in the Number 51 Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that the men on October 9 at Lot 6 Cromarty Farm, Corentyne, Berbice, while being armed with a dangerous weapon, they robbed Deraj Kumar of $270,000 before making good their escape.
However, bail was refused. The case was transferred to the Whim Magistrate’s Court and will continue on November 1.
