Corentyne man allegedly chopped during altercation with villager

A 51-year-old man of Liverpool Village, Corentyne Berbice is now hospitalised after he was chopped by a man who was abusing his wife.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 16:30h at Liverpool Village, Corentyne.
The victim has been identified as Alphonso. The suspect is said to be a 31-year-old male who is in custody.
It was reported that on the day in question, the victim’s wife was verbally abused by the suspect. The woman was allegedly accused of being the one to report the suspect to the Police for noise nuisance.
Following that altercation between the 31-year-old and the woman, the victim went to the suspect’s home to enquire about what had transpired.
A heated argument reportedly ensued between the two men, during which the suspect chopped the victim to his left wrist and right hand.
Following the chopping incident, the victim was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was treated and referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Ranks of the Anti-Crime Patrol subsequently arrested the suspect and escorted him to the Port Mourant Public Hospital to be medically examined, since he displayed minor cuts to his left eye and right foot.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
