The deteriorating body of 50-year-old Dewan Ramnarine of Fyrish Corentyne, Region Six was found hanging at his home on Wednesday by police and his relatives. He is suspected to have committed suicide

According to information received by Guyana Times, Ramnarine had for some time been living alone, after his wife fell ill and reportedly moved out some months ago. Neighbours told Police that the man had seemed “downcast” over the last few days, but neighbours did not read much into the look on his countenance. He was last seen alive on Monday.
One of the neighbours reportedly woke up to a foul stench coming from Ramnarine’s house on Wednesday, and reportedly called on a relative of Ramnarine, who resided a short distance away, to check on the man.
That relative found Ramnarine’s door locked from the inside, and this heightened the fear of family members. The Police were summoned and Ramnarine’s door was reportedly broken down; and the body of Ramnarine was found hanging.
His body was taken down and transported to the Port Mourant Hospital’s mortuary to await a post mortem examination.
An investigation has since been launched into the matter.
