Three Corentyne men accused of robbing several persons have been remanded to prison when they appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Albion Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The three: Roopchand Thomas, called ‘Lil Shawn’, 19, of Rose Hall Town; Joshua Beharry, 20, of Hampshire Village, Corentyne; and Kelvin Munsie, called ‘Snookey’, 20, of no fixed place of abode, are alleged to have committed armed robbery on Asif Ghani and Nankumar Namoo.
It is alleged that they robbed Namoo of a quantity of valuables on October 13 at Albion, Berbice.
Meanwhile, ‘Lil Shawn’ and ‘Snookey’ were thereafter taken to the Whim Magistrate’s Court, where they joined Shawn Thompson, 24, of Rose Hall Town in appearing before Magistrate Alex More to answer two counts of robbery under arms.
It is alleged that on October 21, 2020, they robbed both a 48-year-old security guard of Miss Phoebe, Port Mourant and 37-year-old cane allocator Soomdat Chattergoon of their valuables.
After hearing the details of the offences, Magistrate Moore remanded the duo. The case will come up on November 12 for a Police report, while the Albion cases will come up again on November 10.
