Cornelius elected BTTSC President

Following the hosting of an Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, January 23, Timothy Cornelius was elected President of the Bartica Table Tennis Steering Committee (BTTSC).
Jermaine Joseph has been elected to the post of Vice President while Diane Williams is the new Secretary and Tiffany Sampson is the Treasurer. In the position of Secretary-Treasurer is Rovika Dhanrajh, while Stefon Dass, Naomi Tobin, Lorenzo Bess, and Colleen Campbell comprise the Executive’s Committee members.
According to a missive from the body, the Executive already has a number of clear-cut plans for its time in office. The proposed plans include: “To continue to facilitate training and coaching programme in the areas of coaching, umpiring, administration in collaboration with the Guyana Table Tennis Association; National Sports Commission Guyana; Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports programmes as a means of providing developing for our student athletes, teachers, coaches.”
•To strengthen the schools table tennis programme with the hosting of training programmes for students/teachers, competitions at the inter-house and inter-school levels to identify talented athletes for further training
•Establish a calendar of events which will stimulate regional and national participation in Bartica (hosting of regional and national events)
•Hosting of talent identification and developmental training programmes for student athletes’ sessions at the Bartica Community Centre Ground Hall every third Thursday in the month, with the aim of developing talent for national representation
•Provision of equipment for table tennis development in Bartica
•Develop working partnerships to advance the development of the sport among other initiatives
